Laugh, Play and Be Joyful
By Amy Sherman
With so much hardship and misery in the world, sometimes it's
hard to let go and just enjoy your blessed and joyful life - but
you must.
Each day is precious and special and a gift to be treasured.
With each passing day, as you travel through mid-life, you will
notice that there are more and more things to worry about - your
health,
financial situation,
the well-being of your children,
your aging parents
and your future. However, from moment to moment, there are still joyous things to think about, to appreciate, to acknowledge and to enjoy.
Look around you and notice how nature is constantly displaying its finest work, with the blossoming of beautiful flowers to the birth of little critters every spring. Enjoy the YouTube animal videos of cats playing with dolphins, dogs singing on cue, babies laughing at crinkled paper and let it bring a smile to your face for the moment.
If the laughter enlightens your soul, you're in a good place. Funny comedies on TV, slap-stick movies, stand-up comedians all fill you with joy and light-heartedness, which keep your spirit joyously entertained. Why spend one moment in misery and pain, when you can just feel good and enjoy?
Yes, there's no denying that hardship and misery is out there, but don't dwell on these things too long, because it'll bring you down and defeat your purpose for being here. Aren't you supposed to be living your best life ever? Aren't you supposed to be happy, joyful and carefree? Of course you are and that's what you want to focus on during your day. Constantly remind yourself of what is good and joyful. Plan you day with playfulness and mirth. Laugh when you can, keep it light when time allows and smile whenever the chance is there. Not only will you feel better, but you will also look better.
Some people have to learn to laugh more. One reason may be they lack the ability to laugh at themselves. They may be overly sensitive and too stressed to be critical of themselves in a light-hearted manner. They need to lose some of their control, a risk many refuse to do. However, absurdity abounds and if you notice it, there's a lot to laugh about.
So, let your innate sense of child-like playfulness out again, and enjoy your world with the perspective of your youth and the wisdom of agelessness. After all, joy in your heart and laughter on your lips are a definite sign that you have a healthy grasp of life.
