Seven Easy Tips to Stay Looking Young

By Jayne Hutton

Everybody wants to stay as young looking and healthy as possible but sometimes it's put to one side with the hectic lives we lead. We may believe there is not the time in the day or perhaps the money to improve our lifestyles. But good healthy living does not have to take hours out of the day or cost a small fortune. In this article I'm going to give you some simple tips that can help to reduce the effects and or appearance of wrinkles and make you feel healthier and more confident in yourself.

1) If you are a smoker then this is the most important thing you have to stop doing. Nicotine steals the skin of vitamins and minerals leaving it dehydrated, noticeably dull, grayish, increases wrinkling around the eyes and puckering around the mouth. Reduced levels of collagen, which is the protein that gives skin its elasticity, are the main reason for a smoker's skin to age much faster. Giving up may not reverse all the damage already done but it will help your skin to improve. These signs of improvement can be seen within weeks of giving up.

2) Exercise is important for the heart, weight maintenance, better moods, increased energy, increased sexual appetite and importantly better sleep. You don't have to start working out vigorously to get fit. Start slowly and build up your stamina, the more you do the easier it will get and the fitter and happier you will feel as natural endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine are released. These chemicals work together to make you feel good. Walking for 20 minutes a day 3 or 4 times a week is a good start.

Try walking to work if feasible or go for a walk around the block in your lunch break. Exercise does not have to boring, if you don't like to go to the gym or out running try dance classes like Salsa which are fun and also social. Or join a fitness group again it is a great way to meet new people and unwind after a busy or stressful day at the office.
3) It is not just our bodies that need exercise to keep young looking but our faces too, but we hardly ever seem to think about exercising our 44 facial and neck muscles. Exercises can help lift the facial muscles reducing sags as you strengthen the muscles in your face and neck, as the muscles firm up, the skin will stretch out erasing the wrinkles, fatty areas will tighten up and lift.

4) Aging hands can let down your attempt at a youthful appearance. Get into the habit of moisturizing your hands every time they come into contact with water. Applying a little cream to your hands when they are still slightly wet will help to lock in the moisture. After moisturizing your face morning and night apply a little to your hands too. This will help to keep them looking soft and supple.

5) Daily moisturizing with a good product is a must, you don't have to spend silly money to get a good moisturizer these days, and Olay do some very good products. Exfoliating a couple of times a week will reveal new skin that absorbs the moisture more efficiently. Pick a moisturizer that uses ingredients such as retinol or peptides that work to reverse the aging process and reduce wrinkles, also try to pick a moisturizer that has sunscreen.

6) Getting enough sleep is more important as we get older. When you sleep your body releases growth hormones which stimulates cell turnover. It's recommended that adults have a minimum of 7.5 hours sleep a night.

7) Anti-ageing foods give you better endurance, longer life expectancy, a better quality of sleep, they make you feel energised and give you a sense of well being. Lacking vitamins is a major cause of body deterioration. For younger skin make sure you get plenty of vitamin C and E, these work to restore the collagen in your skin. Omega's 3's maintain the structure and fluidity of cells and moisturizes the skin from within. Some of the more notable anti-ageing foods are:

• Oily fish which contain essential fats that carry the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K.

• Avocados are very high in vitamin E which is essential for glowing skin and shining hair, it also help keeps those wrinkles off your face.

• Berries such as blueberries and blackberries contain large amounts of antioxidants that are very rich in vitamin C and therefore highly useful to the body. Vitamin C helps in proper blood circulation and provides minerals and salts to all the body parts.

• Nuts such as almonds' and cashew nuts are like power houses of energy. Consuming nuts on a daily basis will fight that lethargic feeling and fill the body with immense energy.

• Whole pasta and rice contain carbohydrates which are much needed long term energy foods.

• Green vegetables help fight toxins which is important because a highly toxic body is like a magnet for all kinds of diseases that can harm the body.

Drink plenty of water to detoxify the body as well as helping to keep skin smooth. Green tea is rich in flavonoids. It can help protect the skin against ageing as well as reduce skin damage caused by the sun. For further anti-ageing tips visit Jayne Hutton at http://www.anti-ageing-easytips.com
