7 Little Thought of Ways to Save Money on Entertainment

By Rusty O'Connor

Going out on the town is a fun break from your routine. You get to let your hair down, have a bit of a dance and a laugh and generally relax...until you get your next credit card bill that is! But don't worry. We have you covered.

Listed below are seven money saving tips to help you save money when you are out on the town. Enjoy!

Tip 1: Have a few drinks at home first before clubbing: Drinks at clubs are expensive, period. Set the mood and start with a few drinks at home with friends first. This will save you around $20-30 on drinks on your night out.

Tip 2: Go to a lounge or club that doesn't have a cover charge: There are loads of clubs and lounges out there that let you in for free. This is definitely more economical than going to one with a cover charge. However, keep in mind that drinks are often more expensive at these establishments.

Tip 3: Set a fixed amount: As with eating out, before you go out set a fixed amount. This way you won't spend more than you planned to.

Tip 4: Go to the movies on half price Tuesday's: Most cinemas have a day where the tickets are half price (in Australia this is on Tuesday). Simple tip...go to the Cinema on this day and save half price on the ticket.

Tip 5: Don't make shopping a sport. Shopping makes you spend money. Consider other hobbies to fill in your time. Write a list of "free" or very cheap activities you can do for fun and next time you have some spare time do these instead.

Tip 6: Don't forget about Museums: Museums are cheap, and even, they often have days where they are open for free to the public. Take advantage of these and enjoy a cheap fun day out.

Tip 7: Movies: If you like to watch a lot of movies then consider Netflix or Blockbuster online. The movies are cheaper, and they still have all of the new releases. Definitely a better alternative to the dodgy bootleg DVD store down the road! Rusty is an affiliate marketer with eight years experience.
