Use Feng Shui to sleep better

You are about to find out how Feng Shui can help you sleep better.

Remember the last time you moved your bed? You don’t? Me neither and I will tell you why. Because once you find the „right” place you don’t want to move it any more. The trick is to find the „right” place. Sometimes it takes some pushing furniture around. And you know this nagging feeling when the sofa in the middle of the room just does not feel right.

Well, Feng Shui (Chinese for "wind" and "water"), helps create un environment that is most conductive to the positive flow of energy (called "chi") by proper positioning of objects and furniture in a home (or office).

Because I am writing about how to sleep better, we are going to see what Feng Shui can do about it.

From a Feng Shui perspective, every detail in your bedroom counts when it comes to sleep better: windows location, wall color, bed positioning, type and quantity of furniture, bed linen material, bed clothing color and material.

Every detail can produce „make it or break it” effect.

Wow! Boomers women- can you imagine that? You are having nightmares and sweats every night not because of the so called „hot flashes” but because you put the bed in the wrong side of the room. I love that.

I love it because there is hope and room for improvement.

Let’s start with the basics. What do you need to know about your bedroom from a Feng Shui perspective?

In Feng Shui,it is all about the "chi," the space energy that enters the room through the front door and brings in the life force that resources our bodies with positive energy.

1. The position of your bed is crucial to sleep better: facing the door, without crossing the entrance or being in direct line with the energy line. Make sure that the headboard is on a solid, preferably windowless wall. It is recommended that the headboard is wooden, well attached to the bed and has no openings or slots.

2. Make sure you use your bedroom only for two things: for sleeping and lovemaking. That’s it!

3. There is no room for a TV, lap top, video games in your bedroom. And NO WORK MATERIAL! Not only do the devices distract you, keep you awake and stress you out but they also create electromagnetic fields that can be a health hazard. If you still decide (or need) to keep some gadgets (like the alarm clock) put them at least 6-8 feet away from the bed.

4. Colors matter: Try soft pastel tones like green, blue or pink. White or off white walls can cause anxiety and depression. All shades of red are not a good choice if you want to sleep better.

5. Material matters: choose natural materials like linen, cotton or silk for both your clothing and your bed linen.

6. No clutter please! Some people have the tendency to transform their bedroom into a storage room. Big mistake. The mess affects your feeling of well being. The bigger the clutter the lesser the chances to sleep better. Yes, it is that serious!

7. Mattress and pillows- too many pillows in bed- not a good idea. They contribute to the clutter and retain dust. The material and color rules apply here too. Keep in mind that your mattress can be the source of your back pain for years and your pillow the source of your allergy or asthma attack if you are allergic to dust mites. Pillows need to be changed every year or so.

If you follow the Feng Shui rules chances are that you are going to sleep better and your sex drive will be better than ever. There is no more powerful aphrodisiac than a good night sleep and a relaxing soothing atmosphere.
